(GenK.vn) – Vietnam’s first-ever export order of 5,000 unmanned cargo aircraft to South Korea has not only shaken the global tech industry but also sparked widespread curiosity about the Korean company behind this historic deal.
On August 12, 2025, in Seoul, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between CT Group (Vietnam) and Airbility, a rising UAV technology company from South Korea, for the production of 5,000 unmanned cargo aircraft.
Under the MoU, CT Group will undertake OEM manufacturing of the 5,000 UAVs in Vietnam. This landmark agreement has sent shockwaves through the global technology sector, dominating international media coverage and social networks. In Vietnam, the event ignited a wave of excitement, drawing intense public attention and sparking lively debates across forums and online platforms, as people rushed to learn more about Airbility.
The MoU signed between CT Group (Vietnam) and Airbility (South Korea)
According to our findings, Airbility is an emerging South Korean company founded in 2023 in Pangyo Techno Valley—the nation’s innovation hub often dubbed “Korea’s Silicon Valley.” Since then, the company has expanded with an R&D center in Seoul, a UAV prototyping facility, and an outdoor flight-testing site in the Greater Seoul area.
Despite its young age, Airbility has quickly risen as one of South Korea’s “rising stars” in deep tech, thanks to a team of seasoned engineers, scientists, and aerospace experts with extensive international experience. Many of them previously worked at renowned institutions such as Hyundai Motor Company, KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), MIT, Carnegie Mellon University, and the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) of South Korea.
Airbility’s potential client base includes the Korea Forest Service, domestic firefighting and police units (particularly in Drone as First Responder and emergency response programs), as well as international agencies in public safety, disaster management, and logistics across the U.S., Canada, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
Airbility won the 2025 Red Dot Design Award
The company has also earned the Red Dot Design Award 2025, successfully flight-tested a vectored-thrust eVTOL prototype, and featured prominently at major international technology events. Its founding team includes experts who contributed to South Korea’s flagship aerospace projects such as the KT-1 and T-50 trainer aircraft, the KF-21 fighter jet, and stealth UAVs at the ADD.
With a rapid R&D cycle—going from concept to flight prototype in just nine months—Airbility has drawn significant international attention for its exponential growth and surging valuation, attracting major venture capital interest. Within just 18 months of its founding, it had already secured funding from leading investors including Samho Green Investment, Base Ventures, Stonebridge Ventures, Mashup Ventures, and 500 Global.
The company has also been selected to participate in South Korea’s top startup and deep-tech support programs such as Startup NEST, Little Penguin, Ultra-Gap Startup 1000+, and TIPS. Backed by strong technology capabilities, an exceptional talent pool, and heavyweight investors, Airbility aims to become a global leader in the advanced air mobility (AAM) sector in the near future.
According to international experts, combining Airbility’s aerospace expertise with CT Group’s robust manufacturing capacity, strong R&D capabilities, and high-tech ecosystem will establish a new model of global collaboration in AAM. The order for 5,000 unmanned cargo aircraft marks the foundation for broader joint initiatives—and represents a unique opportunity for Airbility to rapidly secure its position in an intensely competitive global market.
