CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF VIETNAM’S NATIONAL REUNIFICATION, HO CHI MINH CITY WILL HOST THE BIGGEST DRONE SHOW EVER

In a historic moment for Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City will host its largest-ever drone show on the night of April 30, 2025, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the nation’s reunification. This spectacular display will feature a staggering 10,500 drones, surpassing previous records of around 4,000 drones.

A Dazzling Aerial Performance

The drone performance will take place from 9:00 PM to 9:15 PM along the scenic Saigon River, with the show unfolding across approximately 30 locations that span both banks of the river in Thu Duc City and District 1. Along with the impressive drone display, visitors will also be treated to an exhilarating fireworks show, creating a truly unforgettable evening.

The organizers have submitted plans to officially recognize this as a Vietnamese record for the largest number of drones flown simultaneously, showcasing the city’s commitment to pushing boundaries in technological and cultural performances.

A Cultural Extravaganza: Reunification Festival

The highlight of the night will not only be the breathtaking aerial display but also the vibrant Reunification Festival. Starting at 7:00 PM, the festival will unfold along Nguyen Hue Walking Street and stretch all the way from Ba Son Bridge to Nha Rong Wharf. Visitors can expect a variety of performances, both on land and water, showcasing Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage.

In addition to the drone and fireworks display, the Department of Culture and Sports is planning a range of other celebratory activities for the reunification anniversary, including:

  • HCMC Photography Street, showcasing captivating local photography.
  • The 2025 Olympic Run for Public Health, which will involve approximately 4,000 participants.
  • A grand mass sports performance, bringing together 1,400 participants for a unique show of unity and athleticism.

April to May: A Month of Celebration

Ho Chi Minh City is also preparing a month-long celebration to honor its rich cultural history and the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh. The Festival of Colors will light up the city on April 19, 26, and 29, continuing through May with performances scheduled on May 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31. These events, set to take place from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, will be staged at key locations, including the open stage in front of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Building, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, and along the Saigon River.

The festival will feature:

  • Artistic fireworks and drone displays with 1,000 to 2,000 drones at each event, funded by private sponsors.
  • Symphony concerts, showcasing musical brilliance.
  • Mapping shows, using advanced visual techniques to create mesmerizing 3D imagery.
  • Traditional performances, including the iconic don ca tai tu (southern folk music).
  • Exciting river performances, such as flower lantern parades, sailboat displays, and thrilling water sports like jetpack demonstrations, flyboarding, and paragliding.

With these exciting events, Ho Chi Minh City is setting the stage for a truly spectacular celebration of culture, technology, and national pride.
