On August 12, Vietnam, for the first time, secured an export order of 5,000 cargo unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to South Korea—one of the world’s leading technology powerhouses.

Leaders of CT Group and partners exchange cooperation agreements.

Within the framework of the Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum held on August 12 in Seoul, Vietnam’s CT Group and an emerging South Korean UAV technology company signed a memorandum of understanding on the export of 5,000 UAVs.

This landmark event took place in the presence of General Secretary Tô Lâm and South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok. It marks a historic milestone for Vietnam’s technology sector. Mastery of all core technologies in the cutting-edge UAV industry affirms CT Group Vietnam’s strategic role in shaping the country’s technological future.

Today, UAVs have become one of the most critical technologies, with wide-ranging applications across industries—from urban development and consumer sectors to specialized military and security operations, even contributing to the defense capabilities of entire nations or regions.

Globally, UAVs are rapidly being adopted in areas such as passenger and cargo transportation, logistics and distribution, agriculture and forestry, healthcare, monitoring and rescue, firefighting, technology-driven tourism, surveillance and security, and carbon credit management.

Given South Korea’s position as a global technology hub, mastering all UAV core technologies and securing an export order for such an advanced and demanding market is vivid proof of Vietnam’s emergence in the new era. It also opens the door for CT Group to expand UAV exports to many other countries worldwide.

Heavy-duty cargo UAVs—ranging from 60 kg to 300 kg—developed by CT UAV (a CT Group member) boast a localization rate of up to 85% and Vietnam’s proprietary technologies, earning high recognition from countries including South Korea.

CT UAV’s self-reliance in designing semiconductor chips for UAVs provides a unique competitive edge. This milestone demonstrates that Vietnam is ready to compete in the high-stakes global technology arena, fostering national economic growth while elevating the country’s international standing and reputation.

Furthermore, mastering UAV technology ushers in a new era for Vietnam—an era of aerial automation, where intelligent flying robots can boost societal productivity by thousands of percent compared to traditional levels. Today, the nation that possesses more specialized UAVs will prevail not only economically and socially but across all strategic domains.

Notably, CT Group is developing AI-integrated UAVs capable of self-learning and decision-making. This capability is further enhanced by creating spatial environments for artificial intelligence growth, combined with semiconductor technology and network-based geolocation identification systems, as well as specialized UAV technologies for digital transformation across land, cities, rivers, seas, plains, and mountainous regions.

CT Group is building a robust technological foundation to support Vietnam’s comprehensive digital transformation. Its tightly integrated ecosystem of core technologies, mutually reinforcing one another, positions CT Group among the rare corporations capable of achieving high-speed, synergistic growth.

At this historic event, CT Group also secured an ATP order to export 100 million semiconductor chips to a South Korean partner—a field known for its extreme complexity, dominated by a handful of advanced nations, and considered the “pinnacle” of global technology.

For an emerging Asian nation like Vietnam to step directly into the semiconductor arena underscores a bold, decisive spirit—one that is determined to conquer even the most challenging high-tech industries.
